Privacy Policy

Who we are

Jaunto is a community activity directory operated as a sole trader under ABN 71 562 261 801, based in Carrara, Gold Coast, Queensland. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the service.

When you create an account:

• Email address — required to send your magic-link sign-in and identify your account.
• Name — collected at sign-up, used to personalise your experience.
• Organisation — optional, helps us understand usage patterns by provider type.

When you use the app:

• Search events — each search you perform is logged with the query text, region, listing type, result count, and a timestamp. This is used to improve the directory and enforce usage limits on paid plans.
• Device hash and IP hash — anonymised, one-way hashed identifiers used to detect unusual usage patterns. These cannot be used to identify you directly.
• Browser and device information — browser type, operating system, and approximate region, collected automatically.

We do not collect any information about the participants or clients you support. We do not ask for plan numbers, diagnoses, or client details of any kind.

How we use it

• To authenticate your account and send magic-link sign-in emails.
• To meter search usage and apply plan limits on paid tiers.
• To improve the directory — search patterns help us understand which regions, categories, and filters matter most.
• To contact you about service updates, new regions, or your subscription, if you have an account.
• To identify and prevent misuse of the service (e.g. automated scraping).

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Your sign-in token

When you sign in, Jaunto stores a Bearer token in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This token keeps you signed in between sessions. It does not expire during the current pilot phase. Clearing your browser data or signing out will remove it.

Where data is stored

Data is stored on servers located in Australia. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit and access controls to restrict who can read stored data.

Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services:

• Stripe — payment processing for paid subscriptions. Stripe handles all card data; Jaunto never stores payment card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
• Email delivery provider — used to send magic-link sign-in emails and service notifications.
• Hosting and infrastructure — servers that store and serve the application, located in Australia.
• Anthropic (Claude Haiku) — used in batch processing to verify and re-check activity listings. No personal account data is sent to this service; only listing content is processed.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (such as whether you have Jaunto Junior mode enabled). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
• Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached the APPs.

Data breach notification

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the OAIC as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Anonymised, aggregated usage data (search patterns without personal identifiers) may be retained indefinitely to improve the service. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 14 days, except where retention is required by law.

Children

Jaunto is intended for use by adults, specifically support workers and coordinators aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Jaunto Junior is a content filter within the app — it changes which activities are shown, not who can use the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email. Continued use of Jaunto after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
